This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following characters: relatively long pectoral fins (28.9-35.3% SL); lateral-line scales 33-41; relatively long anal rays with longest ray 23.8-52.2% SL (Ref. 127477).
Collected by bottom trawls and appears to be found at the shallower end of these depths (62-228 m), in the southern part of its range (Ref. 127477).
