Dorsal spines (total): 10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 18; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 7; Vertebrae: 26. This species is distinguished for its congeners by the following set of characters: D X,18, the fourth dorsal spine is the longest; pectoral-fin rays18; LL continuous and complete, tubed scales 31; circumpeduncular scales 16; head length 43.3% SL; first dorsal spine 4.5% SL; third anal spine 13.7% SL; gill rakers 6+11. Colouation: overall orange-red with predominantly yellow snout, dorsal, pelvic and anal fins, caudal peduncle with a brilliant red spot outlined in white and four white spots on each side, following the contour of the lateral line (Ref. 122373).
Collected from rocky patch reef surrounded by a large sandy area using a hand nets at a depth of 83 m. It was then transported to the surface alive in a perforated plastic jar.
