Short description Identification keys | Morphology | Morphometrics

This species is distinguished based on the materials from Arsuz, Ceyhan and Seyhan Rivers by the following characters: with a prominent dark-brown or dark-grey lateral stripe (vs. none in A. baliki, A. caeruleus, A. qalilus, and A. orontis with irregularly set and shaped grey blotches on silvery background); differs from A. caeruleus by having a more slender body, its body depth at dorsal-fin origin 21-26% of SL (vs. 26-34%) and by having less branched anal-fin rays, 9½-11½ (vs. 13½-17½) and with ventral keel exposed 3-10 scales in front of anus (vs. scaleless); differs from A. orontis by having less branched anal-fin rays, 9½-11½ (vs. 12½-15½), with ventral keel exposed 3-10 scales in front of anus (vs. keel exposed 0-2 scales) and with last soft dorsal-fin ray simple (vs. stiff); with total lateral line scales 49-59 (vs. 77-93 in A. heckeli, 66-89 in A. sellal, 54-72 in A. timarensis, 70-93 in A. tarichi); gill rakers on first gill arch 9-12 (vs. 13-17 in A. timarensis) (Ref. 129015).
