Etymology: Nemacheilus: Greek, nema, -atos = filament + Greek, cheilos = lip (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Surgeon Lieutenant Colonel P Jakles was a physician in the Dutch East Indian Army stationed in West Sumatra. He collected the holotype and gave it to his friend and colleague, Bleeker. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
