Short description
Identification keys | Morphology | Morphometrics
Dorsal soft rays (total): 8 - 9; Anal soft rays: 9 - 11; Vertebrae: 31 - 32. Diagnosed from other species of the genus Phalloceros by the first gonapophysis angled 5-15 degrees relative to vertebral column and second gonapophysis angled zero-15 degrees relative to vertebral column. Differs further from its congeners, except Phalloceros leticiae and Phalloceros ocellatus, by the roundish to round and well-defined ocellated lateral spot. Distinguished from Phalloceros leticiae and Phalloceros ocellatus by the number of anal-fin rays in females (11 vs. 10, respectively) (Ref. 76852).
