Characterized by brown color with six distinct dark bars; head, body and fins with numerous small, black-edged blue spots; body scales ctenoid, including abdomen; greatest depth of body 2.7-3.0 in SL; rounded caudal fin; pelvic fins, 2.0-2.3 in head length (Ref. 90102); dorsal profile of head convex with slight indentation above posterior edge of orbit; snout length 4.0-4.3 in HL; orbit diameter 4.7-6.2 in HL; interorbital width 8.2-10.0 in HL; caudal peduncle depth 3.1-3.5 in HL (Ref. 089707).
