Dorsal soft rays (total): 92; Anal soft rays: 55; Vertebrae: 54. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following characters: opercular spine ending in 3 prongs; a pair of sub-dermal spines on frontal, behind and above eyes, median sub-dermal ethmoidal spine in front of eyes with forward pointed tip; anterior gill arch with 3 developed rakers (hardly longer than the knobs) and with extremely small filaments; no scales on predorsal but present on median part of body; skin thin and transparent skin; palatines with 1 row of teeth; elongate pectoral peduncle longer than high; vertebrae, precaudal 18, total 54; fin rays, D 92, A 55, pectoral 22 (Ref. 93007).
Body shape (shape guide): elongated.
