Facultative air-breathing (Ref. 126274); Occurs at the foot of waterfalls, in swamps, streams and ponds (Ref. 11225). Eaten in its native range and exported for the ornamental trade (Ref. 4537). Not a seasonal killifish. Is difficult to maintain in aquarium (Ref. 27139). Has been observed to hunt insects from overhanging vegetation by jumping out of the water; has also been observed to travel on land and feed on insects in wet weather (Ref. 43279).
