With 15-18 pre-dorsal scales; a faint, broad longitudinal stripe on the sides; 2-9 faint (sometimes missing), short vertical bars (Ref. 27732).
Usually occurs in large, quiet and deep, often turbid waters (Ref. 37788). Found in medium to large-sized rivers (Ref. 12975). Reported to occur over gravel substrate in clear, swift, small streams up to rapidly flowing stretches of large rivers. Feed on insect larvae, especially trichopterans. Rarely seen in markets (Ref. 12693).
