Marine; pelagic-oceanic; oceanodromous (Ref. 51243); depth range 0 - 20 m. Tropical; 20°N - 1°S
Indo-Pacific to Eastern Pacific: Widely distributed in tropical waters, including the Ryukyu Islands (Ref. 559), Taiwan (Ref. 5193) and eastern Pacific (Ref. 9300).

Epipelagic in coastal and oceanic waters. May leap out of the water and glide for considerable distances above the surface. Feeds on zooplankton and small fish (Ref. 9839).
