Etymology: Pseudochromis: Greek, pseudes = false + Greek, chromis = a fish, perhaps a perch (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: P.E.S. are the chief initials of Peter F Etherington-Smith, who helped Lubbock collect the holotype and other pseodochromids. We have been unable to add any biography. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.

Occurs around small isolated rocks or corals on sandy bottoms. Found singly or in pairs (Ref. 9710).
