Freshwater; pelagic; pH range: 6.5 - 7.5; dH range: ? - 25. Tropical; 22°C - 26°C (Ref. 2060)
Africa: occurs in the Ogowe to Chiloango Rivers (Ref. 81638). Also reported from the marine lower Congo River (Ref. 80507) in Democratic Republic of the Congo. Report from the Inkisi River probably based on a locality error (Ref. 88779).

Dorsal spines (total): 0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13 - 16; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 9 - 13. Diagnosis: anal fin with 2 unbranched and 7-11 branched rays; head and body with dark band along mid-lateral surface from snout to at least rear of caudal peduncle (Ref. 81638).
Maximum TL was recorded at 4.2 cm (Ref. 7094).
