This species is distinguished by following set of characters: head barbels absent; D VI+1,10 with third spine longest; A I,10; longitudinal scales 31; predorsal scales 10; transverse scales 9; no scales on cheek and operculum. Live color is mainly brown (female), 5 pale yellow saddles between nape and caudal peduncle (juvenilie).
