Distinguished from all other species of the genus by having the following combination of characters: eyes absent; snout pointed; tubular flap of anterior nostril elongated into barbel-like structure, posterior nostril borders anterior one. Long and narrow pectoral fin, almost extending to pelvic-fin origin; pelvic fin reaching slightly beyond anus; caudal peduncle with developed caudal-adipose keel; body entirely lacking scales and color; dorsal fin with 8 branched rays; anal fin with 6 branched rays; pelvic fin with 6 branched rays and caudal fin with 16 branched rays (Ref. 75196).
