Head pointed. Body beam-like. Mouth small. Upper jaw protrusible; protruding slightly beyond the lower one when mouth is closed. Interorbital space is very narrow; just less than 1/3 of eye diameter. Branchiostegal rays 6. Gill rakers spinelike, 4 + 1 + 8. Caudal fin rays 8 - 10 (Ref. 41477).
