Diagnosis

This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following characters: body elongate with greatest body depth 28% SL; D IX,11; A III,12; pectoral-fin rays 13; tubed lateral line scales 28. Colourations: interspinous membrane between anterior two to three spines of dorsal fin with a black spot; males with head yellow green and extensively reticulate; abdominal region behind pectoral and pelvic fins orangey pink, scales edged in lavender forming a honeycomb pattern; breast and posterior body are inky black (Ref. 123182).
