Diagnosis

Belongs to the Puntius conchonius group, distinguished by the combination of the following characters: barbels absent, lateral line complete or almost complete, a minute humeral mark present on and below lateral line scale 3, and transverse scale count ½4/1/4½ (vs. ½4/1/3½ or ½3/1/4½ in other species of Puntius conchonius group). This is similar to Puntius stoliczkanus, but humeral mark much smaller (Ref. 75627).
