Diagnosis |
Juveniles strongly striped. Adults with faint stripes, but tall anteriorly pointed second dorsal fin. Sometimes has dark peduncular spot which can be turned on or off with mood (Ref. 48635). Description: Characterized by generally yellow-orange color; very tall second dorsal fin; indistinctive stripes at back; pair of bluish streaks from snout passing through eye; blue stripe across lower cheek; caudal fin base with faint spot at middle; juvenile with well defined brown stripe; pair of pearl white stripes from snout through eye; lower cheek with blue stripe; caudal fin base with small dark spot at middle; greatest depth of body 2.9-3.2 in SL (Ref. 90102); tip of second dorsal fin elongated (Ref. 93839). |
