This species is distinguished from its congeners in the Birds Head region by the following characters: D V-VI+I, 14 -15; A I, 22-24; 36-37 lateral scales; 10 transverse scales; 17-18 anterior scales; 16-17 cheek scales; 18-20 gillrakers on first arch; large interorbital width, 8.6-9.2% of SL; large body width, 14.2-15.8% of SL; short pre-anal length, 47.7-49.4% of SL; long pectoral fin length, 20.1-20.7% of SL; long pelvic fin length, 19.4-22.6% of SL; 11.1% of SL; dorsal fin base protruding vertically behind anal fin origin, between 1st and 3rd anal soft ray. Colouration: a distinct red margin stripe on dorsal fins (Ref. 103156). |
