Diagnosis

This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: mouth terminal and strongly oblique (35–45° to midline of body); presence of maxillary barbels; edge of rostral cap is straight, no medial indent; flank immaculate, no longitudinal stripes; caudal peduncle with small brown spot at the medial insertion of caudal fin; in larger specimen caudal fin with scattered brown spots (Ref. 123185).
