This species is distinguished by the following characters: edge of lower jaw horny; gill rakers with 2-6 gill-rakers on the outside of first gill arch; back and lateral side of the body with black-brown network of streaks and a series of 7-9 black spot along the lateral side (Ref. 107303).
Description: D iii,7; A iii,6; pectoral-fin rays I,12-14; V I,7; lateral line scales 37-40; predorsal scales 12-16; circumpeduncular scales 11-12; pharyngeal teeth usually 3.5-5.3; vertebrae 4+33-35. Body in standard length 4.6-6.3, head length (HL) 3.5-4.4; predorsal length 2.0-2.5, length behind dorsal 1.7-1.9, caudal peduncle length 4.1-5.6, its depth 8.6-12.9; snout length 2.4-3.5 in HL; eye diameter 3.4-4.9 in HL; interorbital width space 2.6-4.3 in HL; caudal peduncle length 1.0-1.4 and depth 2.0-3.3 in HL; body somewhat compressed; peritoneum grayish (Ref. 107303). |
