Diagnosis

Description: Body compact, head short, mouth with 2 pairs of long barbels (Ref. 52193). Dorsal fin with 3 unbranched and 7-8 branched rays; anal fin with 3 unbranched and 5 branched rays (Ref. 52193). Scales in lateral line 27-30, 10-12 around caudal peduncle (Ref. 52193).

Colouration: Translucent brown with silvery white below, scales with dark pigment along borders creating a mesh-like pattern, a series of irregular dashes or single stripe along midbody (Ref. 52193). Breeding males turn bright golden (Ref. 52193).
