Diagnosis

Body tapering, belly rounded before pelvic fins, with 4 or 5 + 7 or 8 = 11 to 13 keeled scutes from just behind pectoral fin base to anus. Maxilla short, not reaching to edge of gill cover. Pectoral fin with 13 or 14 long filaments and 5 to 7 branched fin rays, much shorter than those of pelvic fin. Anal fin long, the last fin ray joined to the caudal fin, which is small and pointed.
