Diagnosis |
Highly variable. Nuptial color can change from normal in seconds. Usually nuptial colors are shown during spawning, but in Tomini Bay it is almost permanent, possibly because of the similar C. aurantidorsalis that often mixes with this species. The eye is bright red and males usually show a dark shading or band along the end of the gill cover (Ref. 48636). |
