This species is defined by the following set of characters: with a system of cephalic skin crests and prominent flaps, composed by 1 nasal, 2 maxillary, 2 anteromandibular and 2 posteromandibular flaps, and 1 mediodorsal, 2 laterodorsal, 2 supraorbitomaxillary, 2 preoperculomandibular, 2 internoventral, and 2 externoventral crests; preoperculomandibular pores 6; suborbital pores 4; postorbital pores 2; nasal tubes are elongate; large, flexible, and highly palmate pectoral fins (length 143.9% HL); 12-13 pectoral-fin rays; presence of pelvic fins; restricted gill slit; minute and sparse scales on body; lateral line mediolateral, short, not continuing on body; palatine and vomerine teeth present; vertebrae 21 + 99 = 120 (Ref. 87479). |
