Diagnosis

Similar to A. japonicus, but differs from it by having larger values for meristic characters, ctenoid scales on ocular side, shorter distance between dorsal margin of head and eye about 1/3 of eye diameter, and a dark blotch on pectoral and pelvic fins. The male has an elongated 2nd dorsal ray and a darker blotch on the paired fins.
