Description: Characterized by white or pale grey color; brown band under eye; oblique blue line behind lower rear corner of eye; posterior head and body with 5 relatively broad brown bars; irregular black markings on back in pale areas between bars; pelvic fins with large bluish streaks; presence of diffuse orange-brown arc around margin of first dorsal fin; some fish with large black spot on basal part of dorsal fin; variable color intensity of brown bars; second to fourth dorsal spines may form short filaments; low membrane connecting pelvic fins; longitudinal scale series 103-111; greatest depth of body 5.4-6.4 in SL; lanceolate caudal fin, 2.8-3.2 in SL (Ref. 90102).
