Diagnosis

This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: small species (29 mm. SL), with a slender body; 2 rows of large unicuspid teeth upon the lower jaw, in some specimens reaching far above the upper jaw; several larger canine teeth placed in a third row on the outside corners of the lower jaw; two rows of upper jaw teeth horizontally positioned; extended lower jaw in males; head squamation covering the head including the snout in front of the eye; dorso lateral process entangled with pleural rib; presence of teeth; and number of anal fin rays 12-13 (Ref. 137898).
