This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: 14 spinous rays in D, 10 branched rays in D and A, 16-17 rays in P; 3 spiniform procurrent rays in the upper and lower lobe of C; 26 gill-rakers in the outer row on the first arch; 19 perforated scales in the anterior lateral line; maximum body depth, which fits 2.2 times in SL; a small dark spot at the base of P, without prominent light or black areas or a contrasting pattern on the body in preserved specimens (Ref. 137825). |
