Definition of Term

chorion
(English) Membrane enclosing the amnion and the yolk-sac, also: an embryonic membrane, elaborated by the follicle cells, which encloses the egg. The eggs of truly viviparous fishes are non-chorionated. Usually hardens on contact with the water; after fertilization the egg secretes fluid and shrinks inward leaving a perivitelline space, May lie external to the zona radiata.
