calcareous
(English) Modifier of sediment shorelines and reef slope substrate; light-colored (white, tan) sand, composed of coral, shell, Foraminifera, Halimeda algae and/or echinoderm fragments. A material containing calcium, usually as CaCO3. (See also: sediment shoreline, reef, sand)
calcaire
(French) Modificateur de rivages du sédiment et substrat de la pente récifale; sable clair (blanc, bronze), composé de corail, coquilles, foraminifères, d'algue du genre Halimeda et/ou des fragments des échinodermes.
