(English) Zone of continental slope; the benthic habitat from 200 to 4,000 m depth, also pertaining to or living on the sea floor at a depth range of 200-4000 metres, on the continental slope and rise. Other sources state 183-1830 m, 200-3700 m or 100-1000 fathoms. (See also: deep bottom area, submerged earthform)
