Definition of Term

raceway
(English) concrete, elongate and rectangular fish-rearing unit generally associated with a hatchery which has a large volume of flowing water, able to sustain greater fish densities than ponds, and able to maintain a cleaner environment. Used particularly for trouts, and less often catfishes. May be 100 m long, 1-10 m wide and 0.5-1.5 m deep and made of concrete (usually), brick, tile, earth or lined with plastic. bassin d'élevage
(French) Étang allongé, normalement de béton à travers duquel l'eau coule. Utilisé principalement pour l'élevage des saumons et des truites. (See also: aquaculture, monoculture, intensive culture)
tanque
(Portuguese) Lagoa, normalmente artificial com água corrente onde se criam salmões e trutas. (See also: aquaculture, monoculture, intensive culture)
