Definition of Term

nekton
(English) Organisms of relatively large size which have fairly strong locomotory powers and whose swimming performance is such that they can swim against currents (in contrast to plankton, which drift along with currents). (See also: plankton, pelagic)
necton
(French) Organismes dont la capacité de nage est telle qu'ils peuvent nager contre les courants (contrairement au plancton qui dérive avec les courants). (See also: plankton, pelagic)
