Definition of Term

meiosis
(English) Division of the nucleus in an eukaryotic cell which results in daughter nuclei with haploid (halved) set of chromosomes, to form gametes (eggs or sperms). (See also: gamete, mitosis, chromosome)
méiose
(French) Division du noyau dans une cellule eucaryotique qui a un noyau filial avec des lots de chromosomes haploïdes pour résultat (= divisé en deux), pour former des gamètes (des oeufs ou des spermes). (See also: gamete, mitosis, chromosome)
meiose
(Portuguese) Divisão do núcleo numa célula eucariótica da qual resultam núcleos haplóide, ou seja, que contém metade dos cromossomas, para formar os gâmetas (óvulos ou espermatozóides). (See also: gamete, mitosis, chromosome)
