Definition of Term

lateral line count
(English) This count is made from the first pored scale behind the gill opening to the caudal fin base, as determined by bending the caudal fin to one side and observing where the crease occurs. In species without a pored lateral line, scales are counted in a longitudinal series along the side of the body. (See also: scale counts, lateral line, caudal peduncle)

(French) Ce compte est fait de la première écaille perforée derrière l'ouverture branchiale jusqu'à la base de la nageoire caudale, repérée en courbant la nageoire caudale.
