Definition of Term

interpolated name
(English) According to the Code, a name placed within parentheses (1) after a generic name to denote a subgenus, (2) after a genus-group name to denote an aggregate of species, or (3) after a specific name to denote an aggregate of subspecies. (See also: Code, genus group, subspecies)
nom intercalé
(French) D'après le Code, un nom a placé entre parenthèses (1) après un nom générique pour dénoter un sous-genre; (2) après un nom du groupe-genre pour dénoter un agrégat d'espèces; ou (3) après un nom spécifique pour dénoter un agrégat de sous-espèces. (See also: Code, genus group, subspecies)
