Definition of Term

brackish water
(English) In a technical sense water that contains more than 0.5 and less than 30 grams per liter of total dissolved salts. In an ecological sense habitats characterized by a mixture of fresh- and saltwater (e.g. estuaries), a decrease in salinity in inland seas, or an increase in salinity in lakes. eau saumâtre
(French) Du sens technique, eau qui contient plus que 0.5 et moins de 30 grammes par litre des sels dissous totaux. Du sens écologiques, des habitats caractérisés par un mélange d'eau douce et marine (par exemple, les estuaires), une baisse de salinité dans les mers continentales, ou une augmentation de salinité dans les lacs.
