Geography and Climate Grenada is located in the Caribbean, island between the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean, north of Trinidad and Tobago. Area comparatively twice the size of Washington, DC. Grenada has a tropical climate; tempered by northeast trade winds. Terrain consists of volcanic in origin with central mountains. Elevation extreme has the lowest point in Caribbean Sea 0 m and highest point in Mount Saint Catherine 840 m. Natural resources are timber, tropical fruit, deepwater harbors. Land use: arable land: 15%, permanent crops: 18%, permanent pastures: 3%, forests and woodland: 9%, other: 55% (1993 est.). Natural hazard lies on edge of hurricane belt; hurricane season lasts from June to November. Geography—note: the administration of the islands of the Grenadines group is divided between Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Grenada.
