Remarks | Voprosy Ikhtiologii v. 44 (no. 4): 441-451. [In Russian]. Abstract: A new species of grayling Thymallus burejensis sp. nova from the Bureya River (a left tributary of the Middle Amur) is described. It differs from other representatives of this genus in the characteristic pattern on the dorsal fin, which consists of interrupted bands and spots; in the absence of a red band along its upper margin; in large dense scales; in the absence of teeth in the vomer; and in the deep body (24.6% of the body length). This species is sympatric in the Byreya River with the Amur grayling Thymallus grubii Dybowski, 18691 and the “Lower Amur grayling Thymallus sp. However, no hybrids between them are known, implying their reproductive isolation. |
