Abstract: Gobio delyamurei, new species, from River Chornaya, Western Crimea, is distinguished from other Gobio in Black and Caspian Sea basins by a short barbel reaching to or slightly in front of anterior eye margin, the breast scaled between pectorals and the mature males with dusky, dark grey body and fi ns. They inhabit a short stretch of River Chornaya where water is extracted in large quantities for irrigation and the species faces a critical risk of extinction in a near future. A lectotype is designated for G. brevicirris Fowler, 1976 from the upper Don. |
