Family:  Danionidae (Danios), subfamily: Rasborinae
Max. size:  6.21 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: Sri Lanka.
Diagnosis:  Vertebrae: 35-35. Rasbora armitagei differs from all congeners from India and Sri Lanka, except R. wilpita by having a prominent symphysial knob on the lower jaw and conspicuous maxillary lateral processes. It can be differentiated from R. wilpita by having the head depth 48-53 (vs. 54-62) % HL and body depth 23.2-24.4 (24.7-29.3) % SL (Ref. 84057).
Biology:  Restricted to shaded streams in the inland rain forests in southwest Sri Lanka (Ref. 123756).

Threat to humans:  harmless
Territory info:  Type locality of Rasbora armitagei, Kalu River basin at Weralugahamulla, near Rakwana (Ref. 84057). Restricted to shaded streams in the inland rain forests in the southwest (Ref. 123756).
