Distribution:  Central America: Papaloapan ecoregion in Mexico.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults occur mainly in shallow tributaries of a lake. Found also in shallow mouths of inlets along the shoreline. They occasionally form large aggregations and prefer mainly very shallow depths of about 10 cm. They live sympatrically with Xiphophorus hellerii. Migratory behaviour is undetermined (Ref. 126106).
