Family:  Carangidae (Jacks and pompanos), subfamily: Trachinotinae
Max. size:  34 cm FL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  pelagic-neritic; marine; depth range 0 - 6 m
Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: Ecuador and Peru, including the Revillagigedo and Galapagos islands.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults are found near islands (Ref. 9283). They generally form big schools (Ref. 9283). Not directly targeted for fishing (Ref. 9283).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 30 April 2008 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
