Distribution:  North America: Barranca de Venados, Puente Venado, Río de Metztitlán, Hidalgo, Mexico (type locality) (Ref. 33021). South of the Río Pánuco in five coastal rivers Tuxpan, Cazones, Tecolutla, Nautla and Misantla rivers) of the eastern stretch of the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt (TMB) at 20°N (Ref. 80389).
