Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 12-14. Diagnosis: Dorsal rays VI-I,9; anal rays 12-14; pectoral rays 13. Median predorsal scales 6. Gill rakers on first gill arch 5-6 + 15-17 (total, 21-23). Body depth 3.1-3.3 in SL, and body width 2.0-2.2 in body depth; eye diameter 2.8-3.1 in head length; first dorsal spine 1.45 in second spine; second dorsal spine 3.2-3.7, and third dorsal spine 3.2-4.0 in HL; spine of second dorsal fin 3.0-3.3, and second anal spine 3.7-4.2 in HL; pelvic-fin length 5.5-6.1, and caudal-peduncle length 4.3-5.1 in SL; distance from insertion of pelvic spine to anal-fin origin 4.6-5.2 in SL. Posterior edge of maxilla straight; preopercular edge smooth, except for few serrae at angle and on posterior half of ventral edge; exposed edge of posttemporal smooth; scaly sheath along anal-fin base poorly developed or absent (Ref. 54391).
