Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 1 - 15 m
Distribution:  Pacific Ocean: Philippines, Palau, Marshall Islands, and Tuamoto Islands. Reported from Rotuma, Fiji (Ref. 10708) and Tonga (Ref. 53797).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 4-4; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Preopercular spine 0[2/0]1.
Biology:  Occurs in sandy areas of lagoon and seaward reefs (Ref. 1602). Occurs in small groups among algae or low green weeds to about 15 m depth (Ref. 48636). Feeds on small benthic invertebrates (Ref. 89972). Minimum depth of 1 m reported from Ref. 90102.
