Max. size:  7.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 102 - 233 m
Distribution:  Northwestern Atlantic: east coast of the United States, from off Long I., New York, south to Florida and to the eastern Gulf of Mexico, westward to deSoto Submarine Canyon; common on the continental shelf between Cape Hatteras and southern Florida.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits bays and shallow coastal waters (Ref. 7251); with mud substrates. Sexual maturity occurs at approximately 4 cm SL (Ref. 26268).
