Diagnosis: |
Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-10; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 9-9; Vertebrae: 26-26. Characterized by the following: five diagonal black bands on head and body, first from chin, through the eye, to dorsal part behind eye; posterior part of pelvic fin black; round and transparent first dorsal fin; scales on anterior part of body embedded (Ref. 13361). |
Biology: |
Found on slopes of clear and fine sand (usually at about 30 m depth). Lives in symbiotic association with alphaeid shrimps, usually with Alpheus randalli and rarely with A. bellulus. Sometimes found in pairs. |
