Max. size:  4.82 cm SL (male/unsexed); 4.98 cm SL (female)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia and Oceania: northern coast of the island of New Guinea east of Djajapura, Irian Jaya, Indonesia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-11; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 11-11. A small species; eyes appear to face slightly upward; jaw length only slightly sexually dimorphic; predorsal midline fully scaled, 13 to 19.
Biology:  Found in sand or gravel-bottom creeks flowing through rainforest, usually within about 20 km from the sea (Ref. 2847). Appears limited to small streams close to the coast in fresh and brackish waters (Ref. 34009).
